In the pilot episode of our video blog (vlog) we were going for a humorous approach to grab viewers but that approach didn’t seem to convey our genuine expertise. I took stock of what was working and what NEEDED to change. I like certain elements of it but it wasn’t something I’d want to subscribe to myself. Then it dawned on, what we have to offer is very PBS-like so why not take a few cues from one of my favorite shows of all time, Ask This Old House.
That’s when the vlog really began to evolve into what is it today. It’ll continue to evolve as we explore the creative possibilities of vlogging.
Here’s the million dollar question, Why do we vlog at all? It’s hard to fit any sort of shooting schedule around the constant ebb and flow to custom cabinet orders and installations. Sure, it’s very challenging yet incredibly rewarding at the same time. Which brings me to the “Why”.
There are three very specific reasons why we produce video content.
1. To establish a solid bond with our current and potential clients. What I mean when I say that is we highlight and sort of celebrate our clients through our videos. Each video we’ve done so far for our vlog is about a client project we’ve worked on. It gives that client and their community a look into the development of their products before the install. I like to think of it like a restaurant where you can see your food being made. It makes you feel better about what you’re putting into your body. A similar principle is applied here. My favorite part of this is getting to help build our clients excitement about the new cabinetry. I should note that we don’t make videos for each client but more specifically clients with unique project pieces.
2. It helps us show the world of potential clients that we are an expert in what we do. It’s important to us that the world sees that we don’t just talk the talk but we also walk the walk. Dustin does not allow anything to leave our shop unless it is perfect. That’s an incredible standard to have but it’s upheld time after time.
“As a perfectionist, if I wouldn’t put it into my own kitchen I wouldn’t let it leave our shop.” – Dustin Devroy
3. We create videos to inspire. Whether you’re thinking about renovating your kitchen or your bathroom, we want to inspire you to expand your parameters of creative thinking. Maybe something we’ve made in the past is a great catalyst for an idea that you have which takes it a step further. Maybe your unique piece will inspire a video which will inspire someone down the road.
We hope that you enjoy our videos and want to know what you think would make them even better. Email us your creative thoughts here and we’ll get back to.
Thanks for reading and have an awesome day!
